William Richards

Richards is a Jamaican photographer who splits his time between New York and Kingston. He is big advocate for Jamaican culture, his passion for the music genre dance hall can be seen in his work. Hundreds of  album covers and editorials have brought new light on to the Jamaican music scene. His work also includes fashion work, mainly on location in his home country of Jamaica. These images are some of my favourites of his work. I love the bright, but earthy colours. I like the the references to his Jamaican culture, with the scenery and clothing choices. The model in these images show a strong independent woman. With Jamaica celebrating 50 years since their independence from the UK a few years ago, celebrating his culture is important to him.

His work involves, fashion, promotion as well as celebrity portraits such as Usain Bolt. Who he has photographed on a number of occasions. All his work is bold and bright, just as Jamaica is as a country. Happy bold, and bright with the sunshine and people.
